Securities class actions are, of course, legal actions. In fact, relatively few cases reach the courts for a full hearing and most are settled before any trial is necessary. iiTRA is committed, where appropriate, to encourage settlement of cases without recourse to the courts, perhaps through mediation or alternative dispute resolution. It reduces costs and can be achieved with dignity and discretion.
